ICGLR RINR Minerals Certification

This new development is directly linked to a successful completion of the pilot phase of the Third Party Audits of Mining companies and publication of 8 reports in a move to provide fact based credibility for certified conflict free exports of tin, tantalum or tungsten (3T) to the international market from the ICGLR Member States and compliance with all standards and requirements of the international mineral industry.

T he ICGLR RINR Minerals Certification Scheme is set to increase credibility for Great Lakes Region certified 3Ts exports at the international market. The ICGLR Member States formally recognized the linkages between the illegal exploitation of natural resources in the Great Lakes region and the funding of the protracted armed conflict by signing, adopting and ratifying the Protocol against the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources (RINR) as part of a Pact on Security, Stability and Development, in November 2006.
