The ICGLR ES pays a courtesy call on President Pierre Nkurunziza

The ICGLR Executive Secretary, Ambassador Zachary Muburi-Muita, on 14th September, 2016, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi.

The Ambassador Zachary Muburi-Muita made his maiden visit after his recent appointment on 14th June, 2016 as ICGLR Executive Secretary by the Heads of State and Government of the ICGLR Member States during the last Summit in Luanda, Angola.
The two discussed on the overall need for the promotion of peace, stability and development in the Great Lakes Region and therefore intensification of mutual dialogue among Member States in order to achieve this goal. The President assured the Executive Secretary of the commitment of his Government to the ongoing dialogue under the East African Community. He also reiterated his assurance to the Executive Secretary of Burundi’s support in the course of his duties.
On his side, the Executive Secretary thanked the Government of Burundi for the support accorded to him towards his appointment to the position. He expressed his commitment to serve the region without fear or favour in order to realize the aspirations of the founders of the ICGLR, principal among them being to foster good political relations among Member States. “Good political relations among Member States is a key to attaining greater peace, security, stability and development in the entire Great Lakes Region”.
