More collaboration needed for collective fight against illegal exploitation of natural resources in the region: Sudan State Minister for Minerals
Khartoum, Sudan 9th November, 2017: Regional Committee against illegal exploitation of natural resources of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) is holding its 16th meeting in Khartoum, Sudan from 7th - 10th November, 2017 to assess the implementation of the six tools on the Fight against the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources in the ICGLR Member States.

(Khartoum, Sudan, February 23, 2017): The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region held a Regional Workshop of ICGLR Focal Points on Formalization of the ASM and Gender to validate a Regional Guide for Formalization of the Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Sector. The main aim of the ASM Formalization Guide is to offer ICGLR Member States a regionally harmonized framework to formalize the ASM Sector with a view of enhancing the delinkage of the financing of illegal armed groups from exploitation and trade in minerals. Formalization of the ASM Sector aims ultimately to contribute to restoration of peace, stability and promotion of development in the Great Lakes Region.
DGG develops 2018 Operational Plan for the Regional Initiatives on the Fight against Illegal exploitation of Natural Resources
Bujumbura, Burundi, 27th October, 2017: The Democracy and Good Governance Program (DGG) of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) concluded its Operational Planning Workshop in Bujumbura, Burundi after developing the Operational Plan of the 2018 Regional Initiative on National Resources (RINR) and defined ways to strengthen coordination between various ICGLR partners in the implementation of the RINR Program.
